Magnetic Pulley
Conveyor head pulley that doubles as a built-in ferrous separator
The Magnetic Pulley is designed to directly replace the standard head pulley of a conveyor, building tramp iron separation into the conveyor's own drive mechanism rather than adding a separate drum unit downstream. A permanent magnet core is built into the pulley shell, so as material discharges off the belt at the head pulley, ferrous tramp metal is held against the belt slightly longer than non-magnetic product, causing it to drop at a different point and be separated automatically. This makes it a space-efficient option where there is no room to add a standalone drum separator, or where a new conveyor is being designed with separation built in from the start. Latif Engineering manufactures magnetic pulleys to standard pulley diameters and face widths for direct drop-in replacement.
- • Doubles as both head pulley and separator
- • No additional drum or suspension structure needed
- • Space-efficient for constrained installations
- • Standard pulley diameters for drop-in replacement
- • Permanent magnet core, no power required
- • Continuous, automatic separation via trajectory difference
- • Low maintenance, sealed bearing design
- • Custom face width to match belt width

Frequently asked questions
Can this replace my existing head pulley directly?
Yes, it is manufactured to standard pulley dimensions for drop-in replacement.
Is separation as strong as a drum separator?
It suits light to moderate tramp metal loads; for heavier contamination a dedicated drum separator provides stronger, more adjustable capture.
Does it need any power?
No, standard magnetic pulleys use permanent magnets and require no electrical connection.
Does the magnet affect belt tracking or wear?
No, the pulley is balanced and designed to run like a standard head pulley with no additional belt wear.
